Minutes of Baldwin Hills ARC Meeting 7/2/97 The seventh 1997 meeting of the Baldwin Hills Amateur Radio Club was called to order by the President, Greg, KD6AIS, at 7:46 PM on July second. Also in attendance were Robert, KF6CHA, the Vice-President; Hugh, NV6H, the Secretary; Ed, WA6MDJ, Chairman of the Board of Directors; and David, N6HGJ, our talented Membership Chairman/ Treasurer. I. Old Business: 1. The Secretary read the minutes of the June meeting. These were accepted. 2. Ed, KD6LT, reported that there had been a LAACARC (LA Area Council of Amateur Radio Clubs) meeting, but that he had not been able to make it. 3. The Secretary, acting in his capacity as ARRL representative, reported that Congress finally passed the bill giving some form of legal protection from frivolous lawsuits when amateurs serve voluntarily in such federal projects as the Amateur Auxilliary. This one had been given up for dead. It ought to help. Also, the ARRL wanted everyone to know that the SAREX was at that time making contacts worldwide. This was a very long SAREX mission, and a most successful one, despite your Representative being so into the Mars that he forgot to listen for it. II. New Business: 1. The President thanked everyone who came to Field Day, 1997. It sounds as if the food was great, but not much operating went on. 2. The President showed the first, and so far only, submission for the ongoing recruiting flyer "contest." This will continue, uh, until someone wins it. 3. Deiter reported from the floor that DCS needs hams for its role in the annual beach cleanup, this year to be held September 20. 4. After some discussion and socializing, the meeting was adjourned at 8:42, until August 6, 1997. Samir was again thanked for his usual awesome refreshments. Submitted for approval this 6th day of August, 1997 by Hugh Stegman NV6H, Secretary
