Minutes of Baldwin Hills ARC Meeting 4/2/97 The fourth 1997 meeting of the Baldwin Hills Amateur Radio Club was called to order by the President, Greg, KD6AIS, at 7:42 PM on April second. Also in attendance were Robert, KF6CHA, the Vice-President; Hugh, NV6H, the Secretary; Ed, WA6MDJ, Chairman of the Board of Directors; and David, N6HGJ, our versatile Membership Chairman/ Treasurer. I. New Business: 1. The Secretary read the minutes of the March meeting. These were accepted, with a correction, and will go to the web page. 2. The Membership Chairman/ Treasurer reported that the Club has no new members, and $1013.05 in the membership account. $220 of this goes to autopatch. 3. Ed, WA6MDJ, reported that a trip to Santiago would be necessary to repair the two-meter system. Meanwhile, Baldwin Hills is being used. 4. Ed, WA6MDJ, raised the matter of his out-of-pocket phone bills of about $20 per month for his voice mail system, which he makes available to the entire group. Following discussion, the President decided that Ed should come up with the exact cost figure and report at the May meeting, at which point it will be decided if the Club will assume this expense. 5. The President reported that this year's membership mailing has gone out. (I got mine, and in keeping with my campaign promise, promptly paid up!) 6. The President reminded everyone of the design contest for our gorgeous new recruitment flyer. It was moved from the floor that each submission should get one community event raffle ticket, and that the "winner" should get another one. A vote was taken, and the motion CARRIED. Old Business: 1. The saga of the membership cards continues. The Secretary gave some of Teri's nice ones to Pat, to see if he could come up with something. Meanwhile, Hugh has re-activated the business card order at Staples, and in fact has them in his hot little hand for May. One way or another, we are going to issue cards. 2. The saga of the newsletter also continues. Following discussion, it was decided by editor Rick, N6KIB, to keep the publication smaller and oriented to Club business. We then adjourned at 8:38, for an excellent demonstration of the Automated Packet Reporting System by our guest speaker and VP, Robert, KF6CHA. They're doing some neat stuff with this system, which can even report vehicle positions a la TELETRACK. Submitted for approval this 7th day of May, 1997 by Hugh Stegman NV6H, Secretary
