Minutes of Baldwin Hills ARC Meeting 3/5/97 The third 1997 meeting of the Baldwin Hills Amateur Radio Club was called to order by the President, Greg, KD6AIS, at 7:41 PM on March fifth. Also in attendance were Robert, KF6CHA, the Vice-President; Hugh, NV6H, the Secretary; and Ed, WA6MDJ, Chairman of the Board of Directors. I. New Business 1. The Secretary read the minutes of the February meeting. These were accepted and will go to the web page. 2. The Secretary noted that he would continue on as the Club's ARRL representative, and he thus noted that the League was looking for input for a future FCC petition to considerably change the ham license structure. This was followed by a lively discussion of the military's controversial HAARP ionospheric heater in Alaska. 3. Ed, WA6MDJ, noted that the 440 MHz repeater was still down, and that the Los Angeles Marathon had made good use of 2 meters on Baldwin Hills. 4. Ed, KD6LT, is the new LAACARC (Los Angeles Area Council of Amateur Radio Clubs) representative, and will attend the next meeting. 4. The President thanked everyone who helped out with the L.A. Marathon, and he handed an extra race goodie bag to WA6MDJ for use of his 220 MHz repeater in the medical net. (Applause.) 5. The President discussed the design of a new flyer for the radio stores. The winning design gets a community event raffle ticket. Old Business: 1. The saga of the membership cards continues. Though the President had decided to print up business cards with everyone's names, Teri came up with some gorgeous blank ones that she had printed. It was decided that we would find some way to put everyone's names on these and make them laminated and all pretty. (As of April 2nd, unfortunately, we are still looking. There have been a few problems here.) 2. The saga of the newsletter similarly continues. It's been decided to make the publication smaller, so it can come out more frequently. After this, the meeting was adjourned at 8:22 PM until April 2, 1977. The President thanked Samir for his usual fine refreshments. Submitted for approval this 2nd day of April, 1997 by Hugh Stegman NV6H, Secretary
