Minutes of Baldwin Hills ARC Meeting 1/2/97 The first 1997 meeting of the Baldwin Hills Amateur Radio Club was called to order by the President, Greg, KD6AIS, at 7:37 PM on January second. Also in attendance were Ed, KD6LT, the Vice-President; Hugh, NV6H, the Secretary; Ed, WA6MDJ, Chairman of the Board of Directors; and David, N6HGJ, our trustworthy Membership Chairman/Treasurer. Note that, since the first Wednesday fell on New Year's Day, the Club met on a Thursday. I. New Business 1. The Secretary read the minutes. These were accepted and will appear on the Web page. 1. The Membership Treasurer noted that the Club now has around $700, after paying for the Christmas party and some other expenses. As this is the 20th anniversary of BARC, special pens are available for $2. 2. The President asked the Secretary where the membership cards for the new members were. It was determined that new ones had been printed up, but with the wrong post office box, and so the situation was dead in the water until Teri had time to do them again, which was apparently not anytime soon. The Secretary, President and Membership Treasurer are still discussing a new style of card that will be easier to keep in stock. Watch this space for latest hot news! 3. Ed, WA6MDJ, reported that the Santiago 440 repeater was down for wind damage, but that 1.2 was still OK. 4. The Secretary, acting as ARRL liason, reported on how the League had gotten the FCC to postpone enforcement of its RF certification requirement for another year, or until anyone can figure out just how the hell amateurs are going to do it, whichever happens last. 5. The President thanked all who attended the Christmas party, which was a great success. The Community Events Raffle was then conducted. Jay's wife won the grand prize, a 2M HT, making the 3rd straight year that the winner had only put in one ticket. Folks, Club participation is worth something! 6. Finally, the annual election was held, as per the Club constitution. All officers remain the same, except that Robert Cooksey, KF6CHA, is the new Vice-President. Congratulations, Robert! Following the election, the meeting adjourned until February 5, 1997. A splendid time was had by all with Samir's fine refreshments. Submitted for approval this 5th day of February, 1997 by Hugh Stegman NV6H, Secretary
