Minutes
of Baldwin Hills ARC Meeting 4/1/98
The third 1998 meeting of the Baldwin Hills
Amateur Radio Club was called to order by the President, Ed, KD6LT,
at 7:45 PM on April 1, 1998. Also in attendance were Dieter, KD6LVW,
the Vice-President; and Hugh, NV6H, the Secretary.
I. Old Business
- The Vice-President noted that the Southern
California Digital Communications Council, SCDCC, is in financial trouble
and may fold. He had also gone to the last VE testing session at Jun's
Electronics, where 20 candidates took tests and most passed. Dieter's repeater,
on 446.200, is running the live downlink of the ham radio satellite show,
Saturdays at 1800.
- The President has no new information on the
status of our old Field Day site at Blue Ridge, which has been closed since
a forest fire. Ed, N6EW/WA6MDJ, is looking at other mountaintop sites.
- Greg, KD6AIS, reported on the L.A. Marathon,
specifically his communications in the lead vehicle. Nine BARC members
were involved. This year, the APRS was also used, in the lead, sweep, and
pickup vehicles.
- Howard, MYE, thanked the other hams who helped
him out on the commercial radios used by the medical net at the marathon.
II. New Business
- We went right to Howard, the night's program.
He gave his usual, typically informative, talk on earthquake and disaster
preparedness. He has most of the supplies he demonstrated for sale, or
knows where to get them.
With this, we adjourned at 9:25 PM, until May
6, 1998.
