Minutes of Baldwin Hills ARC Meeting 8/2/00

The eighth 2000 meeting of the Baldwin Hills Amateur Radio Club was called to order at 1946 on August 2, 2000 by the President, James, N6KWI. Also present were the Secretary, Hugh, NV6H, and David, N6HGJ, our really cool Membership Chairman and Treasurer.

Old Business:

1. Since we had two guests, WB6GFA and Bill Randolph, we went around and introduced everyone before getting into old business
2. The Secretary read the minutes of the June meeting, which were accepted as corrected. He then gave the ARRL report, centering mostly on the FCC's new (and very confusing) CORES registration system. Basically, if you're not registered with ULS, you need to be, then FCC enters you into CORES and you can transact business online, sort of.
3. The Treasurer reported that the Club balance was probably around $60, and there would be more coming in from a recent life membership.
4. The Presdent reported that the two-meter Santiago receiver is fixed, and the system has been put back in normal operation.
5. Ed, KD6LT, read the highlights of the Los Angeles Area Council of Amateur Radio Clubs, which he had attended as Club representative. The FCC turned down LA Sheriff's petition to use 2.4 Ghz for video downlink. No amateur radio spectrum was lost at WARC-2000, and the 40 meter realignment issue is on the agenda for the next conference in a year or two.
6. Dieter, KB6LVW, reported that he had straightened out TASMA about the N6EW Club call, and that 25 had attended the last testing session at Jun's.

New Business:

1. Dieter proposed that meetings start right at 7:30. It was noted that we had done this in the past, and the Secretary would try to get things going sooner. Some people have trouble coming from work and making it on time.

2. Jay, NY6L, reminded everyone that the Antique Radio Society was meeting.

3. With this, we stood ADJOURNED at 2055, until September 6, 2000.
