Minutes
of Baldwin Hills ARC Meeting 7/5/00
The sixth 2000 meeting of the
Baldwin
Hills Amateur Radio Club
was called to order at 1940 on June 7, 2000 by the Secretary,
Hugh, NV6H, who was the only officer present at the time.
- The Secretary announced the reading of the
minutes from the June, 2000 meeting. A motion was made and seconded
from the floor that this reading be waived, and this motion PASSED
unanimously. The minutes therefore remained unread, but they'll
show up on the Club website at http://homepage.mac.com/N6HGJ.
- Ed, KD6LT, reported on Field
Day. Seems that a nice, quiet campout was had by all present,
especially since no actual radio operating took place. Guffy
Campground did not do well in the fires. There is now plenty
of room for antennas, but you must bring your own poles, as most
of the trees were cut for a fire break.
- Ed and Hugh discussed what they knew about
the new radio museum up at KPH, the former RCA coastal
station on Point Reyes. There was going to be a special event,
using real CW on real maritime frequencies, on July 12. This,
in fact, happened, and it was a fine success.
- At this point, the President, James, N6KWI,
and the Chairman of the Board, Ed, WA6MDJ, arrived. The
Secretary handed over the gavel to the President, just in time
for him to chair the new-business portion of the meeting.
- Ed, KD6LT, would have reported on
the LAACARC meeting, but that was postponed a week due to the
July 4th holiday.
- The President led a discussion on how the
Club can get more community events. Social events were also discussed,
finally concluding that we should really have a Club picnic this
summer, if anyone wants to put it together.
- Ed, WA6MDJ, reported on the repeaters.
The 2-meter Santiago receiver was down, and Baldwin had been
turned on for the duration. The transmitter was fine.
- Minus our refreshments, the meeting was ADJOURNED
at 2010, until August 2, 2000.
